Pregnancy is an exciting and joyful period of your life, which is often burdened by back pain, stiffness, and aches. Our Pregnancy Chiropractors use gentle adjustments, mobilisations and muscle work in combination with exercises and advice to facilitate the pelvis, spine and extremities due to the increased stress your body encounters.

Pregnancy back pain is not uncommon, it has been reported that approximately 50% of all pregnant women experience back pain during pregnancy and 50-75% of women experience back pain during labor.1

A survey of 950 pregnant women reported that 31% of respondents used alternative therapies, while Chiropractic was the 3rd most common (6%).1

I’m worried that Chiropractic isn’t safe for me and my bub

It is only natural that you would be concerned about the safety of Chiropractic during pregnancy, at present there have been no reported incidence in the research of damage or harm to the unborn child. Our Chiropractors have undergone extra training and also use pregnancy pillows so you can lay on your stomach without worrying.

What causes my low back pain?

As the fetus develops, the increased weight (25-35 lb) is projected forward which increases the low back curve (lumbar lordosis), this places extra stress on the discs and joints. In addition due to the increase of hormones throughout gestation, especially during the third trimester, causes increased pelvic mobility and decrease in stabilization.1

Our Pregnancy Chiropractors use gentle techniques to assist with pain relief while also providing advice on exercises.

Clinical Studies on Chiropractic

Findings indicated that 84% of pregnant patients got relief from back pain with Chiropractic. The authors of the study also noted that Chiropractic significantly decreased the incidence of “back labour ”.1 The relative risk of experiencing back pain during labour was almost 3 times greater if back pain was experienced during pregnancy.1

Our Chiropractors are highly experienced in adjusting your delicate transforming body. If you have any questions feel free to contact us.
